History

Sheddocksley Baptist Church was started in 1991 by a small group from Gerrard Street Baptist Church who were encouraged to develop a new church in the West of the city.

The church initially held worship services in the Community Centre and growth took place very quickly. After a few years we moved to Springhill Primary School for Sunday services and the Burnside Centre for Wednesday meetings. In April 2000 we were granted a piece of land adjacent to the Lang Stracht on which to build a church centre.
In Janurary 2003 we moved into the Summerhill Education Centre to allow for refurbishments to be carried out in Springhill Primary School.

In September 2004 our new building was completed and this is now our main centre for all our activities. There are currently about 120 people regularly attending Sunday Worship with about 50 children and young people.

In 2005 we appointed Stephen Hibbard as our Pastor and then Carol Hutchison as a Community Worker with a special focus on children and young people.
